Greetings from Dubai. The land of glitz and gold. I arrived around 8pm last night totally jetlagged. There is a 10 hour time difference from Colorado to here. Needless to say I didn’t sleep much last night. I spent the night walking the streets and sitting in the hotel lobby preparing for Tuesday.

In the early morning I was finally starting to get tired, but my day was just getting started. At 6am I took a taxi to meet with the Dubai Creek Striders, the local running club, for an easy 17km. Our run went through the business and local Arab districts of town. We even took a water taxi to cross the “creek”. What a perfect way to see the sights.

After lunch at the hotel I visited the “Mall of the Emirates”. Lots more glitz, gold, and a ski hill. I am not much of a shopper, but I caught a movie and a sandwich. Friday is part of the weekend so the mall was packed. It made for some good people watching.

Now I am finally back in my room and ready for some well deserved sleep.
